Primolut to induce period before vacation

Question

Shalom, thank you for this amazing service that you provide. It has made a major impact on my life.

In seven weeks, my husband and I are taking a trip in honor of our 30th wedding anniversary. I want to try to make sure that my period does not interfere with this. In the past, I have used Primolut to postpone my period, but because I sometimes skip periods (I am 51), I am not sure that I will be able to plan. My last period was seven and a half weeks ago. Ideally, I would like to make sure that I have a period in about 5 weeks, so that I know that it will be over and done with and I will have time to go to the mikvah before our trip (rather than taking Primulot throughout our trip to keep postponing it.) Can I use Primolut or other medicine to *bring on* a period?

Mazal Tov on your 30th anniversary!

It is possible to take Primolut or similar progesterone-only medication (such as Aygestin in the US) to induce a period. Usually the pills are taken for 5 days and then you should expect to begin bleeding a few days after stopping. Please discuss the specifics with your physician, explaining that you will need to stop bleeding at least 8 days before your trip.
