In a case in which her bedikah is clearly red at first, it makes a woman niddah even if it dries to brown later. In cases of doubt, however, a rav may rule leniently, depending on what he sees. Unless you are expert in evaluating colors, we suggest bringing such a cloth to a rav for evaluation, and include information about what you first saw, under what lighting conditions, and how certain you are about the initial shade.
