Even in this situation, it is not permissible to keep the
beds together during
niddah. You can try other options to keep your son safe while still keeping the
harchakot properly. For example, you could push your bed against the wall and sleep with your son in between you and the wall so he will not fall out of the bed. You could attach a toddler bed rail to the side of the bed to keep him from falling out. Or you could place something else between the beds – either something high enough to block a fall, or something soft and close to the height of the bed that would be safe for him to roll onto. Alternatively, you can place a crib/toddler mattress on the floor next to your bed and try to slowly transition him to that mattress. We hope you are able to come up with a solution that works for you and your son.
