Should I ask about bleeding with vaginal ultrasound?
July 26, 2016

Question

I am undergoing ultrasound for follicular monitoring every few days. This is done with just a vaginal probe. I always ask if they see blood, but is this really necessary if they are just using a probe?

Answer

There is no need to ask about bleeding. The probe itself may cause irritation that could lead to light spotting. Since such bleeding would be from the vaginal wall and not the uterus, it would not make you niddah.
