Toxic shock syndrome
November 23, 2012

Question

Can a moch dachuk cause toxic shock syndrome? I am a worrier…. Thanks.

Answer

The risk of developing toxic shock syndrome from foreign objects in the vagina can be prevented by avoiding use for long periods of time. Tampons should be changed every 4 to 8 hours, and diaphragms/contraceptive sponges, etc. should not be left in for more than 24 hours. The moch dachuk is only left in place for a period of 20-45 minutes. It is highly unlikely that using a moch dachuk for such a short period of time will put you at risk for toxic shock syndrome.
