Vesatot after egg retrieval
11/09/2024

Question

Hi! I recently went through an IVF cycle in which I took hormone injections and had my eggs retrieved. As a result of this, the interval of my period was changed because I got my period 5 days after the egg retrieval (around day 16 or so of my cycle when usually my cycle is 30 days). I wanted to know how this impacts the interval cycle counting. Do I count according to this new interval this month or do I ignore the interval this month because it is abnormal due to the hormone injections/egg retrieval? Thank you for your help!

Answer

Thank you for reaching out to us.
The hormonally induced cycle wiped out your prior vesatot. Assuming you had no veset kavua, you should calculate a new onah beinonit (average interval) and day of the month from the onset of your most recent bleeding. Your haflagah is suspended until after your next natural cycle.
We hope this helps and wish you success with your treatments.
