Thank you for reaching out to us.
It is normal to have some staining following a
Pap smear.
You will need a valid
bedikah on the final day of the
shivah neki’im in order to immerse in the mikveh. If necessary, this final day can be postponed from day 7, as long as you don’t go more than five consecutive days without a
bedikah.
We suggest attempting a
bedikah shortly before sunset on your seventh day. If it’s valid (no
niddah-colored discharge), you can immerse as planned.
If you find blood on the
bedikah that is consistent with a Pap smear, then you may
attribute that to the procedure. While this would not count as a clean
bedikah to complete the
shiva neki’im, it also would not invalidate your current count. You would attempt a
bedikah again the next day, which would allow you to immerse one night later than planned.
In this situation, it is permissible for you to continue to wear colored undergarments for the rest of the
shivah neki’im.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
