Bedikot within six weeks postpartum
July 8, 2016

Question

I have a question about bedikot after childbirth. If a woman is not allowed to use a tampon until after her 6 week post natal visit, how would she be able to do a hefseik tahara and all additional bedikot if bleeding has stopped before the 6 week mark?

Answer

As opposed to a tampon, a& hefsek taharah or bedikah cloth is inserted briefly and carefully, with the woman having complete control over what it touches. The moch dachuk can be omitted at this stage, as she is still recovering from childbirth. If there is any particular concern, she can consult her physician.
