Immersing during the day following night flight?
April 4, 2006

Question

The night of my mikwe should be next Wednesday, but my husband and I fly to Israel that very night, so it won't be possible. Can I go to the Mikwe Thursday morning or do I have to wait until Thursday night?

I really admire this service and all your effort, it is amazing job to do! I will send the link of this site to my friends, since it is an immense help especially for women in Europe where there's not so much information available.

Answer

Immersion during the day, even on the day following the appropriate night for immersion, is only permitted in a very narrow range of circumstances. Please write back if there is any additional relevant detail (e.g., problems conceiving). A conflicting flight is not, in and of itself, basis to immerse during the day. In this case, you should make arrangements to immerse on Thursday night.

Depending on the timing and length of your flight, it might be possible to arrange for immersion en route to the airport or immediately upon arrival (if you arrive early enough that night). Do explore these possibilities, and let us know if we can help planning the logistics.

Thank you for your kind words. Please pass on our link to your friends!
