Bedikot between clean days & wedding?
September 2, 2006

Question

I am getting married in a little over a week, on a Monday afternoon. I thought to trust my usual cycle but I was not getting my period. My doctor prescribed 3 primolut-nor pills daily. I started the pills on 29th day of my cycle. I made a hefsek last Wednesday and the Rabbi told me to do bedikot only on my 1st and 7th days. If I want to go to the mikva on Motzai Shabbat, do I continue with daily bedikot until the Tevilla? Wedding? Intercourse?

Answer

Mazal tov on your upcoming wedding!

There is actually some debate on the question that you ask. The opinion of many authorities, including the posek of this site, is that if there are no more than four halachic days between the end of the shivah nekiim and the wedding, no additional bedikot are needed. Therefore, in your case, since the end of your clean days is four halachic days from your wedding, there is no requirement to perform additional bedikot before the wedding.
