Question

I was recently diagnosed with herpes. While I’m currently experiencing an outbreak, I’ve started antiviral medications and am beginning to heal.

As long as I am not experiencing an outbreak, can I still dip in the mikvah?

If I can’t dip, what are my options?

Answer

You can still use the mikveh. You should prepare at home.

You should contact the mikveh in advance and make sure they know about your condition, so that they can take appropriate steps after use. They also may need to schedule your immersion to make sure you are last for that night.

We wish you a refuah sheleimah. Please write back with any further questions.
