Mikveh etiquette in Israel

Question

Hi: I am coming to Israel next week for the first time and I want to know how the mikvaos work. Do I need to make an appointment? How much does it cost? What do they provide?

Answer

Each mikveh in Israel works a little differently. Most do not require appointments – although it depends on the size of the community – and provide the essentials (some provide much more). The cost is in the vicinity of 30-40 shekels (around $10 US) if you prepare at the mikveh. The cost if you prepare at home is about 15 shekels.

We suggest taking a look at our online mikveh directory and calling the mikveh in advance to clarify. Alternatively, if you'd like to share with us where you plan to be, we could make an inquiry for you.
