Privacy and rides to mikveh

Question

I live in an area several towns over from the nearest mikvah. I cannot drive due to a disability. Taking a cab is not safe here. I'm so embarrassed to ask people in the Jewish community for a ride to the mikvah. What should I do to get to the mikvah? Is it embarrassing for other frum women to know when I go to the mikvah?

Answer

Ideally, if your husband can drive you that would be the best solution. However, if he is unable to drive you, and it is unsafe to take a taxi, then you may ask a friend, family member, or neighbor, etc., to drive you. Just as it is perfectly acceptable for the mikveh attendant to know that you are immersing, if you need assistance getting to the mikveh you should not be concerned that your driver also knows when you are immersing.
