Bedikot on Yom Kippur
October 3, 2003

Question

My sixth clean day is scheduled on Yom Kippur. Should I be doing bedikot on Yom Kippur? If so, is it permitted to wash hands with soap after the bedikah?
Thank you.

Answer

You can do a bedikah on Yom Kippur just as you would on Shabbat. If your hands are dirty after the bedikah, you can wash that part of the hand(s) using only as much (liquid) soap and water as needed.
