Mikveh Purim night
February 25, 2015

Question

My mikva night is supposed to be the night after Taanis Esther, when we have to hear megillah. I prefer to wear makeup to the megillah reading.
Am I allowed to do chafifah in the afternoon without removing my makeup? After megillah, I would remove the makeup and wash my face well at the mikva before tevilah.

Answer

Yes, it is fully permissible to perform some preparations during the day and some right before immersion.
At the mikveh, in addition to removing your makeup and washing your face, you should rinse off quickly in the shower, run a comb through your hair, and visually inspect yourself prior to immersing.
Purim Sameach!
