Thank you for reaching out to us.
If it is easier to do the entire
chafifah after Yom Tov, and you will have time to do a thorough preparation then, that is fine.
If it is easier to prepare on erev Yom Tov, you can perform some of the more durable and labor-intensive preparations then, so that
chafifah after Yom Tov can go more quickly. This could include removing hair and taking a bath, for example. If your custom is not to cut your nails on chol hamoed, it is preferable to wait until after Yom Tov to do so. But if you feel that you will be too pressured then to do a good job, you may cut your nails before Yom Tov.
After Yom Tov, you should be sure to take a shower, comb through your hair, clean your teeth well, remove any makeup, and carefully inspect your body before immersion.
